Call for Proposal [Now Closed]

PyCon Asia Pacific represents the annual premier conference dedicated to the Python programming language for the Asia Pacific region (http://apac.pycon.org). PyCon APAC 2011 will be held from June 9th – 11th 2011 in Singapore. The main conference days will be June 10–11th 2011, preceded by one tutorial day on June 9th 2011. The call for proposals is now closed. Please refer to our talks page to see a list of approved talks

  • April 1, 2011 : Deadline for Proposal Submissions
  • April 15, 2011 : Notification of Proposal Acceptance
  • May 15, 2011 : Submission of Presentation/Paper
  • June 9, 2011 : PyCon APAC Tutorial Day
  • June 10-11, 2011 : PyCon APAC Conference Days

PyCon Topics

PyCon accepts a broad range of presentations, from reports on academic and commercial projects and case studies. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Web Programming (e.g Django, Web2Py, TurboGears)
  • Python in Education, Science and Maths
  • Business and Scientific Applications
  • Python Libraries and Extensions
  • Embedding and Extending Python
  • Game Programming
  • GUI Programming
  • Network Programming
  • Packaging Issues
  • Programming Tools
  • Project Best Practices
  • System Administration
  • Python Implementations: IronPython, Jython, PyPy and Stackless.

Proposal Submission

The primary presenter should submit a proposal. This is to help us make arrangements for reviewers and draft the conference programme. The proposal must include the following:

  • Title of talk
  • Description of the talk (min 150 words)
  • Choice of one or more category tag
  • Difficulty level i.e. beginner, intermediate or advanced.
  • Permission for your talk to be recorded.
  • The following personal details: Vocation and Years of experience using Python

Presentation Slide / Paper Submission 

Presentation Slide Submissions

Once your proposal is accepted, we have made submissions easier for PyCon APAC in 2011. We will be accepting presentation slides for the conference. And for the benefit of attendees, we request for slides to be annotated in the notes section unless slides are clearly explanatory. All presentations should be sent to conference@pugs.org.sg.

Paper Submissions

For presenters who wish to submit papers, PyCon APAC will in addition accept full paper submissions for publication in The Python Papers. Full paper submissions should contain all of the usual aspects of a paper such as an abstract, introduction, body and conclusion. The paper will be peer-reviewed by the programme committee and a notice of paper acceptance with review comments will be sent to the author(s). Accepted papers can be amended by the author(s) where applicable, taking into account reviewers' comments before re-submission for publication.
